Welcome Jedi, If you spend any time looking on the web, you can see that there are many websites devoted to certain aspects of being a Jedi. If you wanted information on constructing your own lightsaber and learning how to employ it correctly through mock or stage dueling, you could look at a number of websites. If you wanted information on the Force it could also be found on a vast number of websites as well. Now imagine you are trying to gather information on meditation and costuming, it could be found on another large group of websites. Nothing could be considered an all inclusive holosite, and you would have a sizable collection of bookmarks in your favorites folder if you wanted all of this information. But now, the Mile High Jedi are here. While still in its infancy, the Mile High Jedi has already grown from an establishment originally meant to teach stage techniques of lightsaber dueling to one that exists to promote your own growth through mental, physical, and spiritual stimulation and training as similar to the Jedi as we can provide in this galaxy. While training to become a Jedi is a challenging and daunting task not to be taken lightly, the Mile High Jedi are also here to provide entertainment and fun opportunities if that is the path you choose. We will still provide instruction and help on choreographed lightsaber battle sequences, competition dueling events, and costuming. We will also provide the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals like yourself from the local area at group gatherings, along with individuals from all over the world through our online interfaces. Training to be a Jedi will enhance your life on many levels. The training with the lightsaber will improve your strength, endurance, coordination, and confidence. Any study of what we could call the Force will reduce your stress levels, enhance your meditation capabilities, and allow you to integrate with your surroundings on a much easier and more substantial level. Feel free to look around the site, and help yourself to any knowledge you find. Be sure to look into our forums and feel free to join in and provide any insight that you can. Contribute anything worthwhile that you can while you are here, and if you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact us. |
If you are in a position to make a contribution, please do. Our current goal: A dedicated hosting plan for the holosite

SABER HILT PHOTOS COMING SOON UNDER CONSTRUCTION

History of the Mile High Jedi Some people ask, "Why train with lightsabers?" I counter, "Why not?" Like the photo above states, the lightsaber is the most amazing weapon ever devised, if not for the only reason that the sword is now the most powerful weapon in the galaxy instead of the gun, rifle, or blaster. Like most young boys who saw Star Wars in 1977, I became fascinated with the lightsaber and the Jedi. In my younger years, I was in no position to be able to follow up on my own ideas of lightsabers and the Jedi, but I have since reached a period of my life where I could devote some time and energy into my love of the Star Wars galaxy. Some quick googling will show you that the lightsaber styles of the movies were based upon many established sword styles, such as kendo, iaido, escrima, and fencing. Like most who desire to learn the ways of the saber, some additional research showed me that trying to learn how to wield a lightsaber from one of the established teaching styles would lead to frustration. This was due to the differences in construction of a conventional sword, foil, or katana compared to the construction and operation of a lightsaber. Not to mention that you weren't going to learn the spin maneuvers of a lightsaber from anyone but a practitioner in the arts of lightsaber combat, as they are fairly useless as a combat style without the enhancements of the Force. Besides the physical aspect of lightsaber manipulation, there is also a spiritual aspect. Many who practice the martial arts now do it for reasons other than learning self-defense. They do it to learn more about themselves, to practice a moving mediation technique, and to learn how to get in contact with their spiritual side. The constant repetitions of dulon, or katas, allows the user to make enlightened forays into the Force and themselves. There are many other regional groups that work on training with lightsabers, and you can find many of them in the Partners section of this website. You can also find many training videos online through YouTube. What you couldn't find was a regional group for those of us in the Centennial State of Colorado dedicated to the teaching of the art of the Jedi. The Mile High Jedi are starting out extremely small, but there are grand plans for expansions and enhancements to the holosite and forum. If things proceed as we have foreseen, we will be able to meet in our own Jedi Academy building in the near future, and offer individual and group classes on lightsaber manipulation, meditation, yoga, strength training, tai chi, acrobatics, dueling choreography, and much more. You can keep up with our progress by checking out the ramblings in the blog. I hope you will join us as we proceed down the path laid out before us. |
